Are you ready to stay stylish and hair-free all winter long?
Colder weather means it’s time to break out the sweaters. If you’re like me, this is great news. Who doesn’t love some wintertime fashion? Scarves, turtlenecks, jackets – it’s an art form to make an outfit cozy yet chic.
I love grabbing my cashmere scarf or wool sweater, but so many warm fabrics are like velcro to my dog’s hair. Sometimes it feels inescapable! Many of us turn to lint rollers to help, but although it may feel like a “quick fix,” it’s time consuming and produces plenty of trash.
With a tight budget and an eye for sustainability, I want to make sure I am taking good care of my clothes. I’m tired of pills plaguing my closet. Fabrics that pill often aren’t cheap, and I am sick of my wardrobe feeling like a revolving door.
So, if you are on the hunt for how to best take care of your fabrics sustainably, this one’s for you!
Getting The Right Supplies
First thing’s first. You have to have the right supplies to help fix up your fabrics!
For a more universal tool, I suggest the Brush & Cap, safe for all fabrics. This easy on-the-go brush is ideal for fluffy, clingy medium to long pet hair. Not only can this help remove hair from jeans and jackets, but it also can be used on bedding and car seats. This little guy will be your new best friend, especially during shedding season.
For your more precious and delicate knits, I suggest the Pill & Lint Remover. There is nothing worse than pills – it feels like a sweater death sentence! I have tried many different tools that aim to remove pills, but they are too damaging. Despite claims to gently remove without damage, I have ended up with holes, rips, and still plenty of pills!

This safe and effective brush helps preserve your 100% natural fiber fabrics… Not to mention it is sustainable and low-cost! This is the perfect gift for any sweater lover, even those without furry friends!
How To
To use either of these handy brushes, simply wet the brush, being sure to brush off any excess water with your thumb, then swipe along your hair or pill-riddled clothes for a pristine clean! Bonus tip: when using a bristled product like this, it is best to remove as much static as possible. In addition to dampening the bristles of the brush, you can use a water mister or do a quick dryer run on the clothing.
Simplicity is Key!
When it comes to clothes and their care, I tend to buy, buy, buy. I’m always trying to find a better way to de-fur and de-pill, not to mention I keep getting rid of my sweaters when my de-pilling efforts fail. There are so many gadgets and gizmos out there promising to help, but the aggressive wire combs and electric shavers that promise to restore my fabric continue to fail me! With an eye for sustainability and budgeting, it’s time to find some simplicity by keeping these two tools at the ready.
