It’s no secret that fireworks and loud noises can really spook your pets. In fact, more pets run away on the 4th of July than any other day. This is something we need to avoid AT ALL COSTS. Due to the acute hearing of cats and dogs, loud noises like fireworks are very alarming. We humans know that the 4th of July is a day of celebration, but our pets do not. With different sounds and lights every few seconds, it is hard to predict when they will happen and can come off as a threat.
Fireworks lead to a fight-or-flight reaction where it increases anxiety and leads to either barking or hiding. It will make the dog feel trapped and they will try to run even though they can’t get away from the sound.
